Lot Title:
1899 and a 1901, both NGC PF-65 RB.
Description:
French Connection Estate. Two years separates the dates, but this pair of Indian cents might as well be twins, as both display an identical level of what appears to be full golden bronze brilliance that should have garnered at least strong consideration for a "RD" designation (NGC says red-brown). Furthermore, they are as beautiful as can be with pristine, crystal-clear surfaces that display bold luster and present extremely sharp definition to best advantage. Distinct carbon flecks layer over CENT for 1899, and some similar flecks spread over a slightly wider area for 1899. Both of these were stored by the consignor's ancestor, together face-to-face, which may help explain why they are so well preserved. Two coin lot.

PF-64 RD will seem to be a very conservative grade at first glance, as this appears to be a blazing cherry-red gem proof cent, not much different from the day it was dropped of the dies. Certainly... |
