Lot Title:
1899 PCGS PF-64RD.
Description:
PF-64 RD will seem to be a very conservative grade at first glance, as this appears to be a blazing cherry-red gem proof cent, not much different from the day it was dropped of the dies. Certainly not a cameo proof, rolling luster on the contrary suggests later dies that had lost their contrast, though the sparkling presence is no less impressive. Bidders will require magnification in order to find a number of tiny pepper spots that flutter over each side and determine the grade. (PCGS# 002386)
