Lot Title:
1797 10x6 Large Letters (BB-71, B-3). NGC AU-50.
Description:
A fascinating array of iridescent rainbow color filters around Liberty's portrait, providing a mesmerizing frame of her famous silhouette, the whole pattern following that of classic bull's-eye album toning. Dusky salmon-grey patina dominates the reverse, and both sides feature some cartwheel action, although countering the usual situation, the obverse has the stronger luster for this dollar. A couple of trivial contusions affect the very upper rim of the obverse, and aside from the tiniest occasional tick on either side, that seems to be the only mentionable contact area. Outstanding quality for such an early AU coin! (PCGS# 040004)
