Lot Title:
1787 UNITED STATES 4 CINQ (Newman 8-B, R.3). PCGS AU-55.
Description:
Impeccably sharp, the lovely brown surfaces display a small splash here and there of original mint red, attesting to the AU grade level. More important to the collector wishing to acquire a type example, the sundial side is unusually free from the dark fissures and anomalies often seen on these coins, although a few small flaws appear at the top of the interlocking chains. In short, it would be tough to find a nicer AU type Fugio. By way of pedigree reference, the consignor indicates that this is a "Bank of New York" specimen. (PCGS# 000889)
