(About The Images)
1859-O MS-60. 1859-O MS-60.
Lot Title: 1859-O MS-60.
Description: MS-60 is a grade tailor made for a grand old silver coin like this, with fantastic silvery luster zooming around the fields, and no sign of circulation anywhere. Tilting the coin back and forth makes it easy to see the full, blazing flowlines traversing the fields, completely unbroken, and assuring mint-state assessment. Admittedly, the surfaces are very bright for a coin of this age, but nothing at all diminishes the luster in any way. For that matter, several old-time dealers have stated that a bag of mint-state 1859-O dollars (as well as a bag of 1860-O) dollars was found in the vaults of the mint in the mint in the 1970s and distributed, with this likely one of those coins. Being very white does not necessarily imply a coin dip. Myriad tiny micro contact marks in the fields resulted from bag storage and will limit the grade, yet the eye-appeal remains tantalizing for just MS-60. (PCGS# 006947)

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.

686The Midwest Summer Sale 2010 on 07/23/2010$550.00
1859-O PCGS AU-50.
Patina on the surfaces is a little murky and best described as lead-grey, and it's heaviness probably eliminates any opportunity for underlying luster to show. For a vintage coin of this size with...

1859-O XF/rim bruise.
An inconsequential rim bruise just at 6:00 of the obverse detracts not one whit from this handsome type coin. Neutral grey, with the slightest hint of luster in protected areas of the reverse.

1859-O Seated Liberty dollar F-12
