(About The Images)
1859-O XF-45. 1859-O XF-45.
Lot Title: 1859-O XF-45.
Description: This admirably struck New Orleans branch Mint date exhibits a delicate gray aspect. While there are no obtrusive surface marks to note, the reverse displays a few, but not visually impairing rim bruises.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.

625The Collectors' Auction 2012 on 10/05/2012$4,600.00
1859-O PCGS MS-63.
Legend has it that an original bag of white 1859-O dollars made its way onto the market decades ago and provided us with numerous choice examples of the "no motto", and that helps make the date (along...
640The Midwest Summer Sale 2012 on 07/27/2012$1,700.00
1859-O MS-60.
MS-60 is a grade tailor made for a grand old silver coin like this, with fantastic silvery luster zooming around the fields, and no sign of circulation anywhere. Tilting the coin back and forth makes...
686The Midwest Summer Sale 2010 on 07/23/2010$550.00
1859-O PCGS AU-50.
Patina on the surfaces is a little murky and best described as lead-grey, and it's heaviness probably eliminates any opportunity for underlying luster to show. For a vintage coin of this size with...
687The Midwest Summer Sale 2010 on 07/23/2010$1,650.00
1859-O PCGS MS-61.
Many collectors want to assemble a type set with the most "brilliance for the buck", and a seated dollar like this 1859-O in a PCGS MS-61 holder can be the ideal target for such aspirations. Full...
503The Collectors' Auction 2009 on 10/16/2009$800.00
1859-O AU.
Drop-dead gorgeous, this 1859-O dollar is far more original, and therefore much more appealing, than the typical dipped example. Consistently attractive steely-gold patina is occasionally accented by...
504The Collectors' Auction 2009 on 10/16/2009$1,550.00
1859-O ANACS MS-60.
The basic uncirculated MS-60 grade makes a rare, yet appropriate, appearance for a certified coin. Muted mint luster can be seen throughout each side, and even though the rims are toned, the surfaces...
717The Midwest Winter Sale 2009 on 02/13/2009$330.00
1859-O XF/rim bruise.
An inconsequential rim bruise just at 6:00 of the obverse detracts not one whit from this handsome type coin. Neutral grey, with the slightest hint of luster in protected areas of the reverse.
624The Midwest Winter Sale 2008 on 02/08/2008$290.00
1859-O Seated Liberty dollar F-12
An outstanding, unquestionably original coin that has more appeal than what is suggested by the grade (F-12). Plenty of contrast is given by the lighter devices against the graphite-grey fields, and...
625The Midwest Winter Sale 2008 on 02/08/2008$425.00
1859-O Seated Liberty dollar, XF-45
Semi-prooflike reflectivity is still evident despite fifteen points of wear, particularly on the protected areas of the reverse. Only mild wear accounts for the technical grade, but your cataloger is...
626The Midwest Winter Sale 2008 on 02/08/2008$725.00
1859-O Seated Liberty silver dollar, AU-53
Less often than other issues is the 1859-O prooflike, and this example offers excellent luster, particularly on the reverse. Wear is limited to highpoint rub and just mild friction in the fields,...

1859-O AU-50.
This readily attainable New Orleans Branch Mint date exhibits natural surfaces. Its dusky mauve aspect is embellished with a delicate crimson. There are no obtrusive marks to ascribe, and the rims...
