Lot Title:
1860 NGC MS-67.
Description:
Complex quality stems from three different visual cues neatly compressed into the confines of a very small coin's surface area. That's quite an accomplishment for something so tiny! The upper right two-thirds of the obverse shimmers with distinctive medium pewter-grey patina, then abruptly switches to a crescent of toning that mixes equal parts navy-jade and magenta-tan. Defying such notions, the reverse absolutely shimmers with startlingly attractive jade-green, chartreuse, and tobacco-gold colors arranged in the classic album toning pattern. Combine this amazing tonal experience with surfaces that show no flaws at all on the obverse, and merely a couple of trivial contact points on the reverse, and one has a pint-sized work of art that is a joy to behold. (PCGS# 004377)
