Lot Title:
1872-S Above Bow PCGS MS-64, and an 1872-S Below Bow PCGS MS-65.
Description:
The variant showing the mintmark within the wreath ("mintmark above") is the scarcer of the two, represented here by a coin graded MS-64. Surfaces exhibit primarily silver-tan coloration with a vast selection of magenta-blue accents. The "mintmark below" grades MS-65 with a distinctive vanilla-yellow cast across both sides. What appears at first to be a hairline scratch on the reverse is actually a lengthy planchet striation that was simply not entirely struck out of the planchet upon manufacture. Both are PCGS graded in this two coin lot.
