Lot Title:
1802/0 reverse of 1802 (C-1). PCGS VG-10.
Description:
The surfaces are preserved more nicely than usual for this very difficult date in the half-cent series. Most examples are rough, but this one is not far from ideal, with crumbs of old verdigris and debris strewn only about the date area. The balance of the obverse is fairly smooth, with the reverse only slightly microporous. Close examination locates a couple of ancient scratches right of the bust and another across the neck, as well as a hairline or two on the reverse, and these are all very easily overlooked, having toned right along with the rest of the coin. (PCGS# 001057)

1802/0 REVERSE OF 1802 (C-2) Overstruck on 1802 Large Cent. PCGS GD-4.

Most 1802 half-cents seem to have been struck on spoiled large-cents, cut down to accommodate the smaller half-cent design. In this case, there can be no doubt, since a complete and fully legible... |

1802 (C-2, R.3) 1802/0 Reverse of 1802. PCGS VG-8.
Obverse detail is identical to that seen on a PCGS VG-10, while the reverse is actually a point or two sharper, making this a textbook example of a "silent net grade" at the PCGS VG-8 level. Moderate... |
