1802 1802/0 REVERSE OF 1802. NGC AG-3.
Description:
New World Estate. C-2. The 1802 half-cent of either Cohen variety has notoriety for the vast proportion of ugly survivors, balanced by a very limited supply of attractive specimens at any grade level. While properly graded only AG-3 by NGC, this remarkably smooth, nice Hershey-brown example shows little evidence of the dark surfaces that usually accompany the issue. LIBERTY and 1802 present clear as a bell, though the reverse lacks two-thirds or more of the legends. Despite the extensive wear, neither side shows any marks or detractions of any kind. What a great coin for the grade! (PCGS# 035125)

1802/0 REVERSE OF 1802 (C-2) Overstruck on 1802 Large Cent. PCGS GD-4.
Most 1802 half-cents seem to have been struck on spoiled large-cents, cut down to accommodate the smaller half-cent design. In this case, there can be no doubt, since a complete and fully legible... |

1802/0 reverse of 1802 (C-1). PCGS VG-10.
The surfaces are preserved more nicely than usual for this very difficult date in the half-cent series. Most examples are rough, but this one is not far from ideal, with crumbs of old verdigris and... |

1802 (C-2, R.3) 1802/0 Reverse of 1802. PCGS VG-8.
Obverse detail is identical to that seen on a PCGS VG-10, while the reverse is actually a point or two sharper, making this a textbook example of a "silent net grade" at the PCGS VG-8 level. Moderate... |
