Lot Title:
|
1920-S AU.
|
Description:
|
Very decent luster defies the disadvantage of having been struck at a branch mint in the early 1920s, though the level of detail is as expected from a coin of that era with mild wear. Liberty's hand is softly defined, though the eagle is actually fairly sharp in spite of the incomplete strike and light wear. (PCGS# 006582)
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.

Pronounced mulberry-grey patina enriches both sides, but probably subdues the luster to an extent. Strike quality is decent for a branch mint coin of the 1920s, and most abrasions are predictably... |

1920-S becomes an expensive semi-key date in grades above MS-64, making that grade level an attractive alternative for the collector whose funds are not unlimited. Delicate silver-pearl patina... |

1920-S AU-50+.

This specimen displays a good deal of luster within the shielded portions of its design elements. Exquisite peripheral crimson and blue toning frames its central satiny surface quality. Lightly... |
