Lot Title:
Walking Liberty half-dollar collection in a Dansco 7160 album.
Description:
Considerable attention was given the keys, with every one upgraded well beyond the usual AG/G coin found in a typical collection. There are many highlights here, including: 1916 (VF), 1916-D (VF), 1916-S (VF), 1917-D obv (VF), 1917-D rev (VF), 1917-S obv (VF), 1918-D (VF), 1919 (VF), 1919-D (VF/lightly cleaned), 1919-S (Fine+), 1920-D (VF), 1920-S (EF/altered color), 1921 (VF/lightly cleaned), 1921-D (VF/very lightly cleaned), 1921-S (VF/reverse lightly cleaned), 1923-S (XF), 1927-S (AU/surface residue), and 1938-D (XF/cleaned). As might be guessed from the details of the keys, the collection centers around an average VF grade, with numerous gorgeous dove-grey coins, as well as some lustrous AU or better coins in later date slots. The consignor indicates that 1916-S was removed from an ANACS VF-35 holder, but no insert has been included to verify that. His notes also state that 1921 was removed from a PCI gold VF-30 holder.
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
