Lot Title:
1894 PCGS MS-65 CAC.
Description:
Gem eye-appeal need not derive from blazing luster, as many coins with deep, original toning must necessarily offer only indications of potent luster. Here is an 1894 Barber quarter coin draped across the obverse with moderate pewter-orange patina and accented at the margins with stronger cinnamon-gold accents, and the effect is highly attractive. On the reverse, jade-blue and turquoise assume the toning duties, with the eagle displaying strong bronze patina. As surmised from the MS-65 assessment, neither side is affected by contact marks.
