Lot Title: 1795 13 Leaves. ANACS AU-55 details/polished/tooled.
Description: Fields are harshly tooled, most strongly on the obverse, undoubtedly in an effort to remove contact marks. Both sides were subsequently buffed, producing a thoroughly unnatural, reflective surface quality, and inevitably removing all original luster. The value for this coin lies in its rarity as a type, since even very worn pieces are expensive, and this abused piece nonetheless possess far more sharpness than a problem-free coin in Fine grade, for example. The "13 leaves" reverse is somewhat more common than the "9 leaves". (PCGS# 008551)
