Lot Title:
1834 (C-1, R.1) NGC MS-64 BN.
Description:
One die marriage struck both proofs and business strikes, and the complete absence of clash marks from both sides indicates an extremely early commercial strike. This would help explain the exacting sharpness (for a business strike) and sensational luster. Indeed, despite NGC's "brown" designation (incidentally in an embossed reverse no-line holder), this coin has the type of energetic cartwheel luster that puts to shame that seen on many competing coins with the "RB" or even "RD" designation. Limiting the grade is the presence of several minor, shallow bagmarks on Liberty's neck, but they sure as heck don't limit the eye-appeal, which is simply terrific for the grade.
