Lot Title:
1915-S NGC MS-64.
Description:
1.5 million nickels were coined at San Francisco in 1915, and while that is not a severely limited emission, better uncirculated examples are prized by collectors, placing this issue near semi-key status. Production was not quite the problem in San Fran that it would be a decade later, and sharp strikes are known for 1915-S, and on top of that, this example exhibits some of the very attractive semi-prooflike character that is also occasionally noted for the date. Thus, it is an utterly delightful coin, replete with original aluminum-rose patina and eye-appeal to spare. No important marks need be noted.

This Buffalo is steel gray in color with incandescent hues of rose. Full horn detail can be observed on the reverse. Only a small bit of wear is holding this coin back from a Mint State grade. |
