Lot Title:
1882 PCGS PF-64.
Description:
From the era of stunning, prooflike business strike quarters at Philadelphia comes this, a proof with decidedly business-strike characteristics. What a conundrum, those 1880s! Only limited reflectivity is visible, though of course, the dense patina draped across each side shares some responsibility for this fact. Strike quality is technically amazing, with the final three stars being the only ones not quite fully brought up, while everything else is sharp as a dagger. Without a doubt, an intermittent horizontal scratch over Liberty's midsection is entirely responsible for the PF-64 grade.
