Lot Title:
1796 Small Date, Large Letters (B-4, BB-61, R.3). PCGS XF-40.
Description:
B-4 is the most common die-marriage for the 1796 small-eagle reverse, and features a nicely "dotted 1" in the date. Eggshell-grey patina sweeps across both sides of this example, with several tiny grease marks streaking down across the reverse. While surfaces are by no means fully original, the most slender hints of luster can still be seen clinging tightly to the devices, unperturbed by the myriad microscopic contact marks evident in the fields.
