Lot Title:

Washington quarter set 1932 through 2008 including proof-only issues.
|
Description:
|
If slabs can be seen as one extreme way to protect a coin (that is to say, an extremely safe way to protect and preserve coins), then this has to be the other extreme. This collection of Washington quarters, complete from 1932 through 2008, including silver proofs, entered into the cozy confines of Scotsman World Headquarters basically loose and not in any holders at all! The coins will come to the new owner in vinyl pages, but Wow! Talk about a minimalist manner by which to store one's coins! Fortunately, these quarters have bravely survived potential ravaging by the elements quite nicely despite their, ahem, unique storage mechanism. Highlights can be listed as follows: 1932-D (AU-58/lightly cleaned), 1932-S (AU/cleaned), 1934-D (AU-55), 1935-D (AU), 1936-D (AU), 1937-S (MS-60/lightly cleaned), 1938 (MS-62), 1940-D (AU), and 1940-S (MS-65, planchet defects). Numerous gems are present thereafter, and there are a few coins with nice toning to be found as well. Bid well on this set, but before you take it home, please... buy an album. The coins will thank you.
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
