Lot Title:
Complete set of Washington quarters 1932 through 1996-D, plus many other dates and Proof examples in a Dansco 7140 album.
Description:
Curiously, two coins, the 1941-S and 1942-S are slabbed by ANACS and NGC respectively, and graded MS-64. There is no explanation as to why these were selected for certification, since all the remaining coins in this almost-complete Washington quarter collection are not certified. 1932-D grades at least AU with a few unexpected water spots, 1932-S is MS-60/cleaned/reverse corroded/reverse surface residue, 1934-D is AU-55, and other earlier coins grade between AU and MS-60, with a few mildly cleaned perhaps to make them white enough to match the BU pieces. 1958 is a proof, and the collection is mostly complete through 1998, missing just the 1997-P. Then, a page is hand-lettered for inclusion of State quarters, though only one is present. Next is a page dedicated to proofs dated 1968-S through 1998-S with 1995-S missing, but an extra 2004-S included. And finally, the last page features six silver pre-State quarter proofs.
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
