Lot Title:
1869 NGC AU-58.
Description:
A lightly abraded coin with ticks in the obverse lower left field, but no spots. Many coronet gold coins minted prior to 1877 are very difficult to locate in uncirculated grade, and command a large jump in valuation between AU-58 and MS-60, and that is the case for 1869. Commonly available price guides suggest at least doubling the cost above the NGC AU-58 grade, potentially making this canary-gold example look like a bargain.
