(About The Images)
1880 PCGS PF-65. 1880 PCGS PF-65.
Lot Title: 1880 PCGS PF-65.
Description: Fragile magenta-blue toning spreads out from the obverse upper left field and has stronger presence in three areas around the eagle's portrait, while the prevailing color scheme is permeated with delicate golden undertones. Surfaces are a little hazy overall, yet reflectivity suffers no ill consequences, and despite a lack of such designation, there is obvious cameo effect visible on both sides. It is well known that there are many business strikes with a fully prooflike appearance, but only 1,355 proofs were struck, versus 8,400 examples made for circulation.
Low Estimate: $2,600.00
High Estimate: $2,900.00

1880 and eight additional low-mintage halves, plus 1891
Philadelphia mintages for quarters and half-dollars through the 1880s era were very low, yet the present lot contains most of the half-dollars for that timeframe. The coins are cataloged as follows:...
610The Midwest Winter Sale 2007 on 02/09/2007$400.00
1880 AU-53.
This coin has nice AU+ detail and plenty of luster to go around. If you catch the light the right way, hues of orange, gold, and violet explode off the surfaces. There are a few marks on the obverse...
