Lot Title:
Five Capped Bust half-dollars.
Description:
A quintet of higher-grade bust half-dollars that all have very strong details, but differ dramatically in appearance from one another. 1822 O-106a R.4 is a sparkling AU coin with light vanilla-gold toning and a decent strike for the date. The grade takes into account a series of reed marks on Liberty's cheek. 1823 O-110 grades AU as well and displays dense olive-grey toning that brightens into golden accents at the edges, while a lustrous 1824 is mostly pale silvery-white with album tone on both sides and grades AU. 1825 O-105 is an AU evenly draped in deep tan-gold toning and features extensive flowline luster beneath the patina, and the lot concludes with 1830 O-108 that is technically just shy of mint-state, but has an extremely prolific patina on both sides that effectively suppresses the luster, leading to an XF grade. Five coin lot.
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
