(About The Images)
Five Capped Bust half-dollars. Five Capped Bust half-dollars.
Lot Title: Five Capped Bust half-dollars.
Description: Selection of early dates and high grades collaborate to produce a very high caliber grouping of bust half-dollars whose affiliation within a single lot could only transpire in an esteemed Scotsman auction. What other auction company would have the courage to unleash an uncertified group of high grade collector coins like this upon an unsuspecting public? 1808/7 O-101 is filled with luster and has AU details, but there is some question as to whether the patina is fully original. Strike quality and cartwheel effect are amazing for a coin of this vintage, however. 1810 O-101 is a brilliant and exceptionally frosty AU with thrilling mint luster and a touch of rainbow toning. 1811 O-111a displays AU details and considerable luster as well, lurking beneath an extensive supply of dusky patina. However, the reverse appears a little glossy in your fearless cataloger's opinion. 1812 O-108 is a thickly crusted very original coin that appears to feature potent luster beneath the dusky patina and warrants an XF grade. Finally, the 1813 displays extensive luster and attractive royal-gold toning that leads to an AU grade assessment. What appear to be a couple of small digs above the date area are actually tiny strike-throughs. Five coin lot.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
