Lot Title:
1853 NGC MS-65.
Description:
A vanilla-grey gem that displays subtle frosty luster and a strike much sharper than average for the issue. Many 1853 dimes were struck off of dies that clashed repeatedly, limiting their technical capabilities, but this coin was taken off of relatively new dies, and the level of fine detail reflects this. One spindly die crack ejects upward from the left arrow, and another short one connects the Liberty cap to the neighboring star. Excellent choice for type purposes!
