1802 (B-6) VF details/solder repair. 1802 (B-6) VF details/solder repair.
Lot Title: 1802 (B-6) VF details/solder repair.
Description: Just left of the eagle's tail feathers is a small raised area that corresponds to a discolored spot beneath "BE" on the obverse. It is likely that an attempt was made to puncture the coin in this area, and much later, the depression was filled in for obvious numismatic reasons. This dollar presents an unusual two-toned countenance that is reminiscent of a black-and-white photograph, with chalky devices set apart from mottled greyish fields Aside from the noted damage, there are no other major marks of note, with a couple or so of the mildest rim dings visible on each side.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.

Glossy surfaces and uneven color undoubtedly resulted in the PCGS Genuine-94 assessment for "altered surfaces". Indeed, gunmetal-blue tone distributed about the reverse periphery seems to have been...
