Lot Title:
Complete set of Barber half-dollars in a Dansco 7150 album.
Description:
Minor problems are noted for a few of these Barber half-dollars, especially 1892, 1892-O, 1894-O, 1897-S, and 1908-D, aside from perhaps minimal inoffensive cleaning of a few scattered coins. Keys and better pieces are listed as: 1892-O (VG-8/obverse scratched/cleaned), 1892-S (G-6), 1893-S (VG-8), 1894-S (F-12), 1895-S (F-12), 1896-S (VF-20/lightly cleaned), 1897-O (VG-8), 1897-S (VG-8/graffiti), 1898-O (VG-10+), 1898-S (XF-40), 1904-O (F-15/lightly cleaned/rim bump), 1904-S (F-15), 1905-O (VF-20/reverse corroded/cleaned), 1906-D (VF-30/dipped), 1907-D (VF-20), 1909-S (VF-20), 1912-S (VF-25), 1913 (G-6), 1914 (VG-8/dipped), 1915 (VG-8), and 1915-S (VF-30). Obviously, the presence of so many notable coins indicates a high number of upgrades, and that is the case for this set.
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
