(About The Images)
1836 Block 8. ANACS AU-58 details/cleaned. 1836 Block 8. ANACS AU-58 details/cleaned.
Lot Title: 1836 Block 8. ANACS AU-58 details/cleaned.
Description: Too often, it seems that ANACS correctly decides not to straight-grade a coin, but then applies an incongruous disclaimer. In the case of this 1836 quarter-eagle, AU-58 details/cleaned is stated, yet the cleaning is inoffensive at worst. What is not noted is a scratch on the reverse that extends from the eagle's head to the rim at 8:00. At any rate, this pale-lemon coin features strong details and an obverse that would serve admirably for type purposes.

1836 BLOCK 8. NGC MS-60.
Nicer than what might usually be expected of the basal "UNC" grade, this quarter-eagle displays exemplary detail and undeniable panache, with the appeal driven by decent luster and mark-free surfaces....

1836 Block 8. NGC AU-50.

1836 Block 8, Head of '37. PCGS MS-64 (secure plus).
Fields are unusually luminous for a classic-head type gold coin, with shimmering luster that approaches ideal tortoise-shell texture. While considered a rather common early gold type coin in...

1836 Block 8. PCGS AU-53.
A bit more pale than would be ideal, but surprisingly active luster glimmers from all around each side. The lack of central details can be mostly attributed to strike characteristics, though of...

1836 Block 8. NGC XF-45.
A charming specimen from this short lived, popular series showing a light yellow-gold aspect. Some faint hairlines are observed on this somewhat softly struck issue. It still retains an admirable...

1836 Block 8. XF-40.
