(About The Images)
1820/19 "curl 2" PCGS VF-35. 1820/19 "curl 2" PCGS VF-35.
Lot Title: 1820/19 "curl 2" PCGS VF-35.
Description: CONSIGNOR: How could I forget getting run up on this coin [laughs]? But for good reason, it's got to be the most conservative grade ever, even by PCGS standards. When have you ever seen a VF with luster like that? I think at the time that I paid five times retail. CATALOGER: (Ex. Scotsman 10/19/2007: 558, $1,121/25) where it was described as follows: Despite a modest and completely accurate technical grade, this is simply an incredibly attractive coin. Integration of a diverse palette of lily green, aqua blue and mustard yellow colors evoke the perception of a Monet masterpiece that must be seen to be appreciated. The colors are conjoined around a central tan toning pattern that is remarkably reminiscent of a painter's brush strokes, furthering the temptation to compare this coin's appearance to that of an impressionist painting. When looked at closely, one notices that details on the right obverse are bordered with pulsating electric blue that yields a three-dimensional effect. Truly an extraordinary piece, so even those bidders not interested in this particular issue should take time to look at the coin just to appreciate the remarkable artistic allure. From the Forest Park Collection.
