(About The Images)
1897-O VF/cleaned. 1897-O VF/cleaned.
Lot Title: 1897-O VF/cleaned.
Description: Carbon spots of rather sizeable appearance can be seen above Liberty's hair, and it appears some effort was made to dip the coin in a failed attempt to remove them. Surprisingly, given the disclaimers, this is not an unattractive coin, and in VF grades, 1897-O remains THE key to the Barber half-dollar series.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.

Low Estimate: $425.00

1897-O AU/polished.
1897-O is the key to the Barber half-dollar series in most collector grades, up through XF or so, where the 1904-S begins to assert its rarity. Sadly, this 1897-O has been polished to an unnatural...
