Lot Title:
1906 NGC PF-63.
Description:
Contrary to the usual scenario, the obverse of this handsome proof Barber coin is the stronger side, grading fully PF-64 with substantial cameo contrast. Some hairlines on the reverse, mostly hidden between the stars, appear to be the primary grade determinant. Nonetheless, the highly brilliant, reflective fields and pristine appearance are suggestive of a higher grade, and this is one of those coins that might be worth more "out of the holder".

The 1906 grades AU-55 and is perhaps beginning to show just a hint of PVC haze across portions of the luster. It is followed by a 1910 that grades XF-45, but has perhaps been dipped, as it is a bit... |

A superb Proof issue from the 675 produced. Its deeply mirrored surfaces counterbalance its frosty white motifs. Some minute specks and traces of slight surface haziness are noted beneath its... |
