The third production year for this denomination from this popular southern branch mint, which ceased operations during 1861 due to the ongoing Civil War. Highly lustrous with an exquisite yellow-gold coloration accentuating the somewhat reflective fields. From a recorded mintage of 21,467, and a scarce date at this and higher grade levels. Sprinkled with minute contact ticks, but none are obtrusive. The design elements are impressively struck on both the obverse and reverse. PCGS Population: 8, 6 finer, finest MS-62.
