Lot Title:
1903 six-piece Proof Set.
Description:
Minor haze dampens the cameo effect of the Morgan dollar, but careful examination reveals few hairlines or detractions, leading to a grade of PF-64, while the Barber half has a similar hazy appearance, but a few more hairlines, leading to a PF-63 grade. Mishandling of the Barber quarter has allowed it to receive some short scratches on and near the chin, so a PF-61 grade is warranted, while the Barber dime reveals few such distractions, permitting a grade of PF-64. The Liberty nickel is lightly toned but gorgeous, with a grade of PF-64, and the Indian head cent is beautifully toned in bright yellow and copper-gold colors, with just some abrasions in front of the portrait accounting for a PF-63 RB grade.
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
