Lot Title: 1798 Point 9 Close Date, B-27, BB-113, Rarity-2. VF-25.
Description: Pewter-gray surfaces with nuances of golden hues on the peripheries. It is counterpunched on the obverse with an "8" to the right of Liberty's profile, and with a smaller inverted "9" below her lowest curl. On the reverse, a counter punched "M" is observed on the Eagle's shield. A minuscule rim bruise is seen on the obverse, above the fifth star; and several grooves, below the surface, are detected in the central area of the reverse. The piece exhibits strong detailing of the central devices on both sides.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.

1798 Point 9 Close Date (B-30, BB-116, R.5). XF/obverse spots..
Legitimately rare, B-30 is characterized by numerous die cracks on both sides, the obverse cracks carried over from use of that die in B-31 (which was actually struck before B-30). This strangely...
