Lot Title:
1789 Mott Token, Thick Plain Edge PCGS MS-62 BN.
Description:
As is always the case for this late die state, central definition of the obverse is weak on account of the sinking obverse die that resulted in the coin’s convex appearance. Also diagnostic is the enormous die break left of the clock. Observing this coin just from the obverse might lead one to the conclusion that it was struck on a lead planchet as the color has an unusual steel-grey tint.
