Lot Title:
1842 XF-45 and 1902 Barber Half XF-45.
Description:
These two half dollars, from a single type set, are closely matched for appearance. The 1842 Seated Liberty half dollar grades XF-45 and features olive tones and peripheral iridescence. A gorgeous die crack at the bottom of the reverse is just on the verge of becoming a full-blown massive cud. Likewise, the 1902 Barber also grades XF-45 and is just on the cusp of an AU grade. It has a dramatically beautiful crescent of rainbow color around about three-quarters of the obverse field area, while identical colors swoop around three quarters of the reverse periphery. An awesome coin and an awesome pair for the color enthusiast. Two coin lot.
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
