Lot Title:
1821 B-2 XF-45.
Description:
A fantastic, original example of the type. The upper obverse is saturated with beautiful sunset gold tones shimmering above an ocean of blue color below Liberty’s portrait, lending a picture-perfect backdrop for the engraver’s art. On the reverse, more mint luster is at work, animating the evenly patinated beige-gold fields with energy and enthusiasm. Strike quality is noticeably better than average, and both rims are fully dentilated. It is difficult to imagine a much prettier coin existing in this grade.
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.

Semi-bright fields may lack the "ideal" level of patina, but details certainly are not lacking! Not much overall wear is evident, though the high points are expectedly rubbed and only hints of mint... |
