Lot Title: 1723 Hibernia Farthing, Dei Gratia, Breen-170, R-6. PCGS MS-63BN.
Description: This is an Eleven Harpstrings example of what Breen refers to as the "Second Prototype Farthing with a Halfpenny layout." Philip Nelson, "The Coinage of William Wood: 1722 - 1733", considered the issue to be a pattern. Its surfaces display a hard, glossy aspect with charming brown surfaces that are enhanced with orange highlights. A reverse die break starts at "N" of "HIBERNIA" and travels to the numeral "1" of "1723," ending past the "1" turning to the rim.
