(About The Images)
1809 O-115a AU-50. 1809 O-115a AU-50.
Lot Title: 1809 O-115a AU-50.
Description: Although the reverse displays much evidence of heavy die clashes, the obverse displays scarcely any direct symptoms of such except for a fascinating network of die cracks, including a couple through the date and a couple more through the stars on the left. They are diagnostic of die state “a,” as described by Overton. From a technical standpoint, this is a pretty coin with much lavender and olive-green color commingling atop lustrous surfaces. Prodigious mint luster courses around the fields as the coin is rotated under a lamp.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.

1809 (O-104), 1810 (O-107a), and 18.11 (O-102).
Courteous Collection of Early Type. Generally good-looking coins comprise this trio, and they match up pretty well in terms of sharpness as well. They list as: 1809 O-104 (Fine), 1810 O-107a...
626The Collectors' Auction - 2014 on 10/17/2014$375.00
1809 (O-105), 1810 (O-110), and 1811 Large 8 (O-104).

627The Collectors' Auction - 2014 on 10/17/2014$475.00
1809 (O-105), 1811 (O-105), and 1812 (O-105a).
Courteous Collection of Early Type. 105 is the unifying Overton variety ... except the dates differ, of course, which guarantees different die-marriages. They list as: 1809 O-105 (VF-30/cleaned,...
628The Collectors' Auction - 2014 on 10/17/2014$200.00
1809 (O-106) and 1811 (O-108).
Courteous Collection of Early Type. 1809 O-106 features decent dove-grey patina at F-15, and shows a couple of trivial scratches on the cheek. 1811 O-108 shows faint vertical hairlines beneath...
629The Collectors' Auction - 2014 on 10/17/2014$320.00
Two 1809 (O-109 and O-109a).
Courteous Collection of Early Type. 1809 O-109 III edge (XF) nearly passes for original given the ashy-grey patina. 1809 O-109 normal edge (XF-45) provides nice sharpness along with evidence of a...
630The Collectors' Auction - 2014 on 10/17/2014$425.00
1809 normal edge (O-112, R.5+) XF/polished.
Courteous Collection of Early Type. Rarity estimates vary for 1809 O-112 normal edge, but we suggest R.5+ at its scarcest. Polishing can be seen beneath the murky mulberry-grey patina that dominates...
631The Collectors' Auction - 2014 on 10/17/2014$850.00
1809 (O-115a), 1810 (O-105), and 1811 (O-111a).
Courteous Collection of Early Type. Consecutive early dates will find many suitors given the better "look" of each of these. They list as: 1809 O-115a (VF-25), 1810 O-105 (VF-30), and 1811 O-111a...
538The Midwest Summer Sale 2010 on 07/23/2010$1,950.00
1809 (O-106, R.3) AU details/artificial color.
Very heavy brown patina dominates the obverse and significantly curtails luster, while the reverse is two shades lighter and could easily pass as being fully original. The question as to why someone...
539The Midwest Summer Sale 2010 on 07/23/2010$25,250.00
1809 III Edge (O-109a, R.3) NGC MS-65*.
When discussing early half-dollars in very high grade, many collectors are understandably satisfied to obtain a single capped bust to serve as a type example (speaking of the lettered edge type, of...
704The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/24/2009$1,215.00
1809 (O-106, R.3), 18.11, 1811 over 10 (O-101, R.1), 1811 Large 8...
Early capped bust half-dollars fill out this outstanding lot, well worth the astute bidder's consideration. Coins include: 1809 O-106 (XF-40), 18.11 O-101 (XF-45/obverse lightly cleaned), 1811 O-105a...
705The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/24/2009$875.00
1809 (O-102a, R.1) AU.
CONSIGNOR: Seems like there are a lot of nicer 1809s around, but I wanted the one with the screw threads impressed on the back. Just like I had to have a "spiked chin" half-cent. They are never well...
706The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/24/2009$19,250.00
1809 (O-109a, R.2) NGC MS-64*.
Some coin collectors will never pursue capped bust half-dollars even by date, much less by Redbook or Overton variety, and for them, satisfaction of a type set requires purchase of just a single coin....
572The Midwest Winter Sale 2008 on 02/08/2008$675.00

1809 O-103 ANACS VF-20, 1813 O-105 ANACS VF-20, and 1817 O-107 ANACS...
All three members of this encapsulated trio are certified and perfectly graded by ANACS. The 1809 O-103 is graded VF-20, the 1813 O-105 is VF-30 and the 1817 O-107 (not indicated on the slab) is...
1115The Collector's Auction on 10/20/2006$800.00
1809 O-105, R-2. NGC AU-53.
The satinlike surfaces of this specimen have a dancing brilliance, and they are enhanced with a delightful blending of rose and blue. A few hairlines and toning flecks are not obtrusive to this...
1390The Midwest Summer Sale 2006 on 07/21/2006$525.00
1809 O-105, R-2. NGC AU-53.
Glistening surfaces embellished with delightful, variegated gold and blue hues. A few flecks and hairlines are detected on mostly satinlike surfaces with remarkable visual appeal. Decently struck...
580The Midwest Winter Sale on 02/17/2006$1,100.00
1809 O-110 R-4 AU-53.
Phenomenal eye appeal graces this "in favor" variety. Its two recognizable diagnostic features are an obverse die break through star 4, ending in lumps, and, on the reverse, there is a row of...
581The Midwest Winter Sale on 02/17/2006$635.00
1809 AU-58 O-103 R-1.
Oh so close to being Unc. The reverse is only 25% toned, the other 75% is original white. The obverse is nicely toned and problem free.
