(About The Images)
1818 O-109a PCGS AU-50. 1818 O-109a PCGS AU-50.
Lot Title: 1818 O-109a PCGS AU-50.
Description: Lambent tones of sea green and true blue color intermingle across most of the obverse, though the lower central area of Liberty’s portrait is more densely covered in opaque ultramarine tones. Beginning at star 9, a nearly untoned, cometlike streak shoots diagonally down and left across the back of Liberty’s tresses, toward the first digit of the date. By contrast with the front, the reverse is only lightly toned in beige that evolves into silvery amber shades at the edges. A nice die clash resulted in a partial outline of Liberty at the Eagle’s right (observed) wing, and corresponding clash marks from the Eagle appear on the obverse.
