(About The Images)
1893-CC NGC MS-62. 1893-CC NGC MS-62.
Lot Title: 1893-CC NGC MS-62.
Description: One of the more popular dates in the series, and an example that is the definition of the popular phrase, "there are two sides to every coin." For this one, the reverse looks like a flashy, frosty MS-65+. The obverse, on the other hand, show the marks of an MS-62+, and has a somewhat minor prooflike appearance. It is a commendable example of a tough date to locate in higher grades.

High Estimate: $4,500.00

922The Collectors' Auction - 2014 on 10/17/2014$1,050.00
1893 PCGS MS-61, and an 1893-CC PCGS VF-20.
Bradford Pear Collection. Blazing luster emits white brilliance for the entire 1893 aside from a hint of magenta on the reverse, and central details look a trifle soft as is often the case for this...
923The Collectors' Auction - 2014 on 10/17/2014$5,000.00
1893-CC NGC MS-62.
Checkered Collection. Whereas many examples display excessive bagmarks, this MS-62 1893-CC features uncommonly well preserved surfaces, aside from a handful of curling abrasions on the cheek. This...
927The Collectors' Auction 2013 on 10/18/2013$4,800.00
1893-CC NGC MS-62.
While 1893-CC often comes prooflike, the dies that struck this example had just about eroded completely to a more familiar frosted state. Still, the fields display rather flashy luster, and benefit...
799The Collectors' Auction 2012 on 10/05/2012$360.00
1893-CC ICG VF-20.
Perfectly graded at VF-20, with bold features but a lack of the finest details over the ear and at the eagle's breast. This semi-key features lovely ice-blue patina in the fields, joined by golden...
800The Collectors' Auction 2012 on 10/05/2012$625.00
1893-CC NGC VF-30.
The Blitzer Collection. VAM-3 "Alligator Eye". Each side exhibits the most perfect possible level of original patina, showing ideal graphite-grey devices with darker, intricate details within. ...
801The Collectors' Auction 2012 on 10/05/2012$4,600.00
1893-CC NGC UNC details/artificial toning.
We all know that it is generally best to steer clear of any discussion about doctoring coins, but if ever a silver dollar needed to be dipped, it might be this one. The obverse actually looks just...
723The Midwest Summer Sale 2012 on 07/27/2012$650.00
1893-CC PCGS VF-25.
Surfaces demonstrate virtually perfect original quality, with each side displaying a lovely triple-grey color scheme. Classic pewter-silver dominates the entire coin, complemented by dove-grey...
724The Midwest Summer Sale 2012 on 07/27/2012$8,250.00
1893-CC PCGS MS-64.
Beautiful platinum-white overall, with a dainty touch of apricot on Liberty's lightly frosted portrait, and the eagle's center. Sharply defined luster revolves readily and steadily through the...
791The Collectors' Auction 2011 on 10/21/2011$600.00
1893-CC ICG VF-35.
The ICG VF-35 grade is pinpoint accurate for this, a just-miss XF key-date dollar. Grading accuracy is important to this particular issue, since the value doubles between VF and XF, and as a 100%...
904The Midwest Summer Sale 2011 on 07/29/2011$3,200.00
1893-CC PCGS MS-61.
Neither side displays any perceptible color, though the surfaces have pleasing eggshell-white patina that suggests original quality. The impetus for a lower mint-state grade becomes obvious at once,...
699The Collectors' Auction 2010 on 10/15/2010$800.00
1893-CC (VAM-3, alligator eye) XF details/cleaned.
Blatantly white and somewhat chalky, a nearly drastic cleaning is plainly obvious. Redeeming the value to some extent is strong detail at about the XF-40 level, but neither side displays even a...
700The Collectors' Auction 2010 on 10/15/2010$1,050.00
1893-CC PCGS XF-40.
Impartial assessment of the obverse details leads to conclusion that this pewter-grey Morgan dollar may be (ahem) optimistically graded, since the curl above Liberty's ear is flat, and a number of...
701The Collectors' Auction 2010 on 10/15/2010$2,700.00
1893-CC PCGS MS-60 (rattler).
A number of factors conspire to limit the grade to the most basic (and sadly, most under-utilized) uncirculated grade of MS-60. Despite strong underlying luster, surfaces are hazy and lack energy,...
818The Midwest Summer Sale 2010 on 07/23/2010$500.00
1893-CC NGC VF-30.
Perfectly circulated to just the right shade of silver-grey, subsequently enhanced at the rims by hints of album toning. The NGC VF-30 grade is altogether suited to the original quality and bold...
819The Midwest Summer Sale 2010 on 07/23/2010$1,550.00
1893-CC NGC AU-53.
Little luster remains to support an about-uncirculated grade assessment, but on the other hand, details are quite sharp and hardly worn at all! AU-53 would appear to be NGC's "compromise" grade to...
621The Midwest Winter Sale on 02/12/2010$900.00
1893-CC PCGS Genuine.
PCGS Genuine-92 indicates cleaning, and in this case, the offending activity was not all that drastic, producing dull silver-grey surfaces that display little by way of hairlining, but also very...
622The Midwest Winter Sale on 02/12/2010$1,050.00
1893-CC PCGS XF-40.
Although a trifle pale overall, highpoint details are tinged with aluminum-grey patina, and hints of luster unexpectedly twinkle across the open fields. A few unimportant small abrasions are apparent...
999The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/24/2009$675.00
1893-CC PCGS VF-35.
When an original Morgan dollar is properly graded VF-35, it can exceed the aesthetic appearance of XF coins, and that is the case here. This 1893-CC benefits from supremely original dove-grey color...
1000The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/24/2009$2,800.00
1893-CC VAM 3 "Alligator Eye." PCGS MS-61.
Unknown to many collectors is that 1887 is not the only Morgan dollar to feature an "Alligator Eye". 1893-CC VAM-3 is a lesser known appellation of that reptilian nomenclature, also identified by...
791The Midwest Winter Sale 2009 on 02/13/2009$3,900.00
1893-CC REDFIELD MS-62.
A rather extensively clashed die characterizes the reverse, producing at least two offset reverse silhouettes of Liberty's profile. The obverse is prodigiously toned in lavender-tan tones, while the...
713The Collectors' Auction 2008 on 10/17/2008$825.00
1893-CC XF, reverse scratched.
Pleasing silver-grey patina is relieved by golden accents at the obverse margins. Although the presence of a little mint luster could suggest a slightly higher grade, the a couple of handling marks on...
714The Collectors' Auction 2008 on 10/17/2008$3,500.00
1893-CC PCGS MS-63.
Extremely white, with a pronounced double die clash that has resulted in a prominent die break near the top of the right end of the reverse wreath. As is expected of the MS-63 grade, a generous number...
720The Midwest Winter Sale 2008 on 02/08/2008$1,100.00
1893-CC Morgan dollar EF-40
This key date coin may prove to be a little too "white" for some, but it does not display any particular tell-tale signs of cleaning, and so your cataloger feels it could almost certainly be certified...
721The Midwest Winter Sale 2008 on 02/08/2008$3,100.00
1893-CC Morgan dollar, NGC MS-62
Polar white surfaces display only the merest breath of gold color at the outermost rims, and the frosted motifs suggest a hint of semi-prooflike character. Not as well struck as usual for the issue,...
827The Collectors' Auction 2007 on 10/19/2007$1,000.00
1893-CC XF-45.
Despite fifteen points of wear resulting is substantial field friction and light wear across the detail highpoints, it is safe to assume that this coin was originally struck with at least prooflike...
828The Collectors' Auction 2007 on 10/19/2007$1,050.00
1893-CC XF-45.
It is likely that this flashy, nearly untoned coin was prooflike when struck, as the reverse still displays excellent mirrors with deep reflectivity. Further, the Eagle displays the halo of...
829The Collectors' Auction 2007 on 10/19/2007$1,350.00
1893-CC NGC AU-53.
Lack of a little bit of luster for the AU level seems compensated for by the better-than-average detail for the AU grade; hence, the intermediate AU-53 assessment. A dash of blue color in the left...
821The Midwest Summer Sale 2007 on 07/27/2007$475.00
1893-CC VF-20.
A handsome pewter gray aspect augments this representative. Bolstering its originality are the absence of detrimental marks or blemishes. Its evenly worn and top-notch for this assigned grade level.
822The Midwest Summer Sale 2007 on 07/27/2007$500.00
1893-CC NGC VF-25.
At the close of this year, all minting operations ceased at this historic western mint, thus putting an end to this romantic chapter of our Nation's coinage. This lot has a deeply toned pewter...
823The Midwest Summer Sale 2007 on 07/27/2007$575.00
1893-CC NGC VF-30.
This lot offers a pleasing circulated representative from the last year of issue for this highly collectible western branch mint. Its light pewter surfaces are embellished with rich golden russet...
824The Midwest Summer Sale 2007 on 07/27/2007$1,200.00
1893-CC PCGS XF-40.
Always a perennial favorite, this example projects a handsome silver-gray aspect embellished with golden russet hues. Minimally marked for the grade, and handsomely above average in aspect.
837The Midwest Winter Sale 2007 on 02/09/2007$450.00
1893-CC VF-20.
The obverse has dark violet tones adorning the peripheries, while the reverse is 99% covered by very similar toning. There is a mark on the obverse worth mentioning. The wear is smooth, even, and...
838The Midwest Winter Sale 2007 on 02/09/2007$500.00
1893-CC VF-35.
This solid VF key date Morgan Dollar has minimal wear, no distractions, and attractive peripheral toning. If you have a hole in you circulated set of dollars, you should take a seriously look at this...
716The Collector's Auction on 10/20/2006$675.00
1893-CC VF-35.
A bright VF+ example with remaining detail consistent with the lower XF grades. However, the number of contact marks will likely cause many to grade this coin a VF+. It is a solid example of a...
717The Collector's Auction on 10/20/2006$4,400.00
1893-CC MS-63.
An example from the last year of silver dollar production from this popular western mint. A brilliant, white specimen on its obverse, while the reverse has an exquisite velvetlike essence. An array...
