Lot Title:
1867 NGC MS-66.
Description:
This particular specimen is ascribed as an 1867 Liberty Head California Fractional Gold Round Half Dollar, BG-1007, R-4+ that was struck by Frontier & Co. with a crudely reeded edge. The grade assigned to this issue represents the highest attribution for either NGC or PCGS, and only one piece per grading service has been ascribed at this utmost level. It was minted with a medal alignment, with no fraction bar, and with the "2" in the date struck over a "1." There are numerous concentric die striations perceived on its reverse. An appealing russet hue is detected, mainly on the obverse's periphery.
