Lot Title:
1873 J-1256. PCGS PF-66.
Description:
This Closed 3, off-metal striking example in aluminum has a Plain Edge. It is designated Judd-1256, Pollock-1397, Rarity-8. It was struck using a regular issue pair of Proof dies for collectors of this period, no doubt as part of a complete set. Its virtually white design motifs are supported by deep reflective fields that produce an intriguing cameo appearance. Die striations are perceived on both sides. Its surfaces are practically unsullied, save for a insignificant mark to the lower left of the first feather. All design detailing is extremely sharp and distinct. A piece that is sure to be the piece de resistance of a preeminent collection. PCGS population: 1, none finer.
