Lot Title:
1847-C AU-58+.
Description:
With a mintage of 23,226, a mintage number normally considered low, this is actually a more available issue from this most sought after southern mint. Its pleasing yellow-gold surfaces depict just the slightest trace of wear on the highest design elements. A few stray hairlines are observed on this handsome, well-struck piece.
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.

Very sharp, especially for Charlotte gold, with the reverse particularly well defined. There is plenty enough luster visible to suggest an AU grade, and the color seems to be unquestionably original,... |
