Complete set of Mercury dimes in a Whitman folder.

Description:

No-Land Estate. Collector appeal: "B" for the average grade range estimate of Good and up. 1916-D is a genuine coin that should grade AG-3, although it appears to have been lightly cleaned at one time and now displays pale lavender-grey patina. 1921 and 1921-D likewise fall into the AG range, but several other earlier dates will move into the VG and Fine grades, such as 1918-D, 1923, and 1925-D, for example. Glossy effects from cleaning can be seen for some coins, such as 1919-PDS, 1923-S, etc., but most seem like original pieces. 1934 and 1938-S give the earliest UNC presence, with 1941-D and later dimes mostly BU. 1941-S looks like an exceptionally nice coin.
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
