Lot Title:

Nearly complete Collection of Eisenhower dollars in a Dansco 7176 album
|
Description:
|
Atypical for a major auction, an incomplete Eisenhower dollar set would seem out-of-place here, but this isn't any ordinary set. Evidently stored in an environment conducive to toning, prominent rings of color affect almost every single piece, and looks remarkably consistent from coin to coin. The color begins as cyan at the extreme outer rim, progresses through aqua-blue, then cinnamon-gold, and then encroaches upon relatively white central areas. Amazing! And in most cases, the reverse features correspondingly similar color patterns. The consignor states that 1976-S evidently fell out of the album, and 1978 is the only minimally toned example. Note: this is the 21 coin "short set".
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
