1805 5 Berries, 1807, plus thirteen Capped Bust dimes in a Dansco 6121 album. 1805 5 Berries, 1807, plus thirteen Capped Bust dimes in a Dansco 6121 album.
Lot Title: 1805 5 Berries, 1807, plus thirteen Capped Bust dimes in a Dansco 6121 album.
Description: Campania Estate. The consignor managed to work a couple of surprise early dates into a formidably difficult collection, including 1805 (VG or very close) and 1807 (VG/impact damage). Despite its low grade, the 1807 is particularly interesting because it appears to have been struck on a severely defective planchet, seemingly cracked about 75% of the way through. A specialist really needs to check this one out. Remaining early dates should average Good or better, including: 1820 large 0 (AG), 1821 large date, 1823/2 large Es, 1824/2, 1825, 1827, 1829, 1832, and 1836, while the remaining pieces seem to fall in at Fine or better, including: 1831, 1833, 1834 large 4, and 1835.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.

1805 5 Berries. About Good/impaired.
Being of such low grade, the impairment could be deemed minor, as a small punch at the top of Liberty's head has slightly raised metal on the reverse. The problem is scarcely visible, though, and...

1805 5 Berries JR-1. NGC VG-8.
An extremely original dove grey example of the JR-1 variety, as indicated on the NGC label. JR-1 is the better variety for the date, and in the grade range given, it would not be possible to improve...
