Lot Title:
1822 (JR-1) NGC MS-63.
Description:
7 graded MS-63, 2 higher at NGC. The presence of an 1822 dime in any grade practically makes an auction worth attending all by itself, but an MS-63 example should pull in the specialists who are seeking a very elusive coin that can elevate the quality of almost any bust dime collection. Fabulous sharpness defines the quality here, with all stars except the first three receiving practically full definition. Either side will seem a bit lackluster at first glance, but given the depth of the patina, that should come as no surprise. Especially impressive, the obverse shows no marks at all, while a single pinprick rests just right of the eagle's neck. (PCGS# 038801)
