(About The Images)
1869-S PCGS AU-55. 1869-S PCGS AU-55.
Lot Title: 1869-S PCGS AU-55.
Description: Off the market for a long time, the consignor feels that there is a chance this could upgrade to AU-58 today, though the fields may witness just a little too much "noise" to permit that to happen. Rich butterscotch-gold toning endows the surface and actually accentuates the slight prooflike character offered therein. As usual for San Francisco eagles of the era, neither side was fully struck up by the dies, yet neither is there much evidence of actual wear. Friction in the fields and subtle shift in texture on the highpoints form the only evidence of circulation. (PCGS# 008656)
