1796 (B-5, BB-65) NGC VG details/graffiti/countermarked. 1796 (B-5, BB-65) NGC VG details/graffiti/countermarked.
Lot Title: 1796 (B-5, BB-65) NGC VG details/graffiti/countermarked.
Description: MHJ Set. There is "graffiti", and then there is GRAFFITI. That which appears on this dollar is of the quaint and very attractive type that inspires feelings of a personal nature, since the coin was apparently inscribed during some long bygone era as a memento. The obverse features neatly stenciled lettering for "P Meier / Jan 24, 1826", while the reverse has the same inscription, only stamped in this time. Considering the high purchasing value of a dollar in 1826, one can only surmise commemoration of an important event, such as a birthday or deceasement. A fascinating coin no matter how one looks at it, with amazingly quaint, emotional appeal. (PCGS# 006861)

1796 (B-4, BB-61) NGC XF details/repaired.
Marshmallow Collection. Repaired may be a strong disclaimer for what appears to be smoothed patched in the obverse left field. Dark toning has subsequently been layered over the area, undoubtedly to...
763The Collectors' Auction 2013 on 10/18/2013$2,600.00
1796 (B-5, BB-65) NGC XF details/rim damage.
Marshmallow Collection. The level of "rim damage" will hardly repulse most viewers, though one cannot deny the presence of several dings around both sides, some of them tiny but deep, some broad but...

1796 (B-4, BB-61) NGC AU details/improperly cleaned.
Marshmallow Collection. Though cleaned and really just mildly glossy, this is far from an ugly type coin, with moderate luster still visible all around both sides. Blotchy toning may not have...

1796 Large Date, Small Letters (B-5) NGC VF-25.
Exquisite lavender-rose surfaces feature full, original bloom and not even the slightest indication of having been "helped". This is how many astute collectors prefer to see their early silver...
